Helping you understand innovation in the East Midlands: Business innovation over the past 12-24 months

Following the launch of a joint research paper on approaches to innovation over the last 24 months, join RSM and the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce for a panel discussion on the findings from this research. There will also be an opportunity to hear from two prominent businesses on how innovation has been the driving force behind their success, what the future holds and how both have benefited from the relevant tax breaks to reduce the overall cost of innovation.

Panellist: Stuart Edgington 
Stuart is a senior information and data professional with over a decade’s experience in leading data and analytic initiatives. He has wide ranging experience of leading multi-site, multi-national technical teams delivering Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Science and Data Platform strategic programmes. He has worked with several institutions including TSYS, Nationwide Building Society, RBS, ABN AMRO, Virgin Money, Deutsche Bank and Shell Energy. In his current role with Holovis International Stuart is leading the implementation of a new Data &amp Analytics strategy, combining the latest developments in Analytics, Machine Learning and Data System design with Holovis’ world leading expertise in virtual, augmented and mixed reality and immersive experience solution delivery.

Panellist: Leanne Bonner-Cooke MBE
With a passion for business transformation using innovative software, e-bate Limited was Leanne’s brainchild after seeing the potential for the solution across multiple industries globally. Prior to e-bate, Leanne was founder and CEO for Evolve-IT Consulting Ltd, a software development and consulting business. With a strong and a determined drive for business improvements through
technology, Leanne has developed an award-winning businesses and was awarded an MBE for Services to Women in
Business in 2018 as part of the New Year Honours list. With over 20 years’ experience in senior roles in the technology sector, Leanne has also been awarded the title of Businesswoman of the Year, in 2015 and 2017 and has successfully brought business software and services to corporate customers on a global scale.

East Midlands Chamber of Commerce
East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) is the Chamber of Commerce for Leicestershire, supporting businesses in their growth ambitions while representing their needs to policy makers locally, regionally and nationally.

Panellist: Scott Knowles
Scott is Chief Executive at East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire) and lives near Matlock, Derbyshire.
Scott began his career at North Derbyshire Chamber in 1999, initially providing advice and support to businesses in regard to preparing for the impending 'millennium bug' and helping businesses embrace at the time, emerging technologies. Scott's earlier career was in the information and communications technology sector. As well as heading up the Chamber's leadership team and representing the Chamber and its members at senior level with public and private sector stakeholders and partner organisations, Scott
manages various capital and revenue projects for the Chamber.

Panellist: Sheetal Sanghvi
Sheetal leads the Central Region Innovation Reliefs business and is a part of the firm's National Innovation Reliefs Senior Leadership team. Having specialised in this niche area since 2010, She has extensive experience in advising businesses (from start ups to large corporates) across a range of sectors in making significant R&D and patent box claims. This enables Sheetal to have practical discussions with all levels within a business to ensure that claims are fully maximised, whilst also being robust and able to withstand scrutiny from HMRC. Sheetal represent the firm on the HMRC R&D Consultative Committee, a steering group involving
members of HMRC, HM Treasury and other stakeholders and she has been involved in driving policy, inputting into the drafting of certain HMRC guidance on R&D and engaging with senior members of HMRC on matters of process.
