Apprenticeships deliver benefits to staff, businesses and the local economy, providing an opportunity to directly bridge the most important skills gaps within the region and beyond.

Register for this event to hear expert insights on:

  • What an apprenticeship is and how it works in practice
  • Advice and guidance on how to access apprenticeship funding
  • Creation of cross sector partnerships and networks
  • How you can upskill your existing workforce and recruit new talent in a cost-effective way


This interactive physical 2-hour session will involve networking, a facilitated round table discussion and a Q+A session.
About the hosts:

  • Helen Ure, Faculty Head of Apprenticeships, De Montfort University (DMU)
    • Helen has over 25 years experience of developing people and businesses within the public, private and third sectors. Helen’s successes of combining professional development with business improvement has led her to working in higher and degree apprenticeships. She can speak to the benefits to be gained by employers and organisations of using apprenticeships as part of their staff, leadership and talent development strategies. Helen can provide advice and guidance on how to support an apprenticeship in the workplace.
  • Tasmin Raynor, Director of Apprenticeships at De Montfort University (DMU).
    • Tasmin brings with her a wealth of experience in Degree Apprenticeships and knowledge of how such programmes can help business to upskill their workforce in a cost-effective manner. Tasmin has a highly successful background in Education and Training and has worked with a range of organisations from SMEs to multinational corporations to gain an understanding of their business and talent development requirements and to help organisations to navigate through the complicated world of apprenticeships.

Helen and Tasmin will be joined by Ian Mattioli of Mattioli Woods who will share his experiences of Upskilling staff through an apprenticeship.
